Hollow Man (2001)
Hollow Man is Verhoeven’s usual mix of slick production values and poor taste, without his usual incongruous jokes. Kevin Bacon ‘appears’ in the title role, Elizabeth Shue is the heroine and the effects are mostly brilliant.
The main problem is the script, which asks enough questions to set you thinking but has no proper answers. There’s a big action finale which, oddly for Verhoeven, doesn’t really get into top gear.
The disc is beautifully presented, with some of the best menus I’ve ever seen.
